THE MOKAYA NAME

mokaya Mokaya refers to a pre-Olmec culture based in the Soconusco region of Mexico—one of the first sedentary settlements in Mesoamerica.

Archaeologists have found residues from cocoa beverages inside ceramic drinking vessels that suggest the people of this ancient culture, the Mokaya, were indulging in chocolate drinks as far back as 1900 BC.

We chose our name as a nod of recognition to the Mokaya, the world's first chocolate lovers, who, like us, understood well, the innate pleasures and benefits of chocolate.
